Sunday Soul Sessions really are an institution at Alumbra. Since their inception at our previous location, crowds have attended en masse, giving the venue its unique Sunday charm. Afrodescia is undoubtedly the main draw card for the venue on Sunday nights, as lovers of funk, soul, rhythm and blues and reggae get down to the sounds of the band. Afrodescia feature Angela Librandi (vocals), Jason Heerah (vocals/percussion), Dave Matthews (drums) and Duncan Kinnell (keys) and play classic soul, R & B, funk and reggae. Expect regular guests singing with the band also.
Afrodescia play two sets each Sunday, beginning at 7.30pm sharp, through until 10pm. DJs Takse plus Tony Crea playing disco, funk and soul following the band. On the last Sunday of the month (commencing May, 2008) the Soul Driven crew will be playing deep and soulful house with Gianni V, Nic D'Stef and Steve Stil on the decks. Alumbra offers its gourmet BBQ each Friday to Sunday with rotating specials between 4 and 9pm.
